DESIGN COMMUNICATION
The curriculum covers key techniques for communicating architectural design effectively. It uses various methods of visualisation and expression of space and spatial concepts through architectural drawings to prepare students for design assignments. These abilities are taught through a sequence of freehand and structured drawings conducted both outside and in the studio. The module's teaching and learning style will be lecture and tutorial-based, with students participating in a blended learning experience during the lecture and tutorial sessions. The general manner of delivery is a blended learning strategy, with a mix of face-to-face and online learning (TIMES). The module evaluation will take the form of an individual assignment with a series of summative assessments.
Project 1
Individual assignment
Students are to create a manually drawn and colored A3 size movie poster. The poster should include a human figure, 1 natural element, and 1 human-made element. This allows students to develop freehand drawing skills through a combination of self-expression, natural and man-made object drawing, architectural lettering, tonal values, and rendering.
Project 2 A B C
Individual assignment
In this project 2, students are going to produce 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional drawings using orthographic projections in three phases manually and continuously. The purpose is to explore manual projection methods in architectural drawing emphasizing architectural conventions, symbols, and line quality. Students are to use Farnsworth house to draw plan, elevation, section, axonometric and perspectives drawing
Project 3
Individual assignment
Architecture presentation boards are a useful tool for displaying your work. They are used to bring visitors into the design process and methodologies while also offering a general overview and vision for the project. It is essentially a method for communicating design and showing aesthetic abilities and sensibility as a designer. The architectural model is a technique for communicating a building design or masterplan. The model depicts architectural concepts and may be utilised at any step of the design process. An architectural model depicts the design's scale and actual presence. The model is a three-dimensional representation or expression of the design, generally at a considerably lower scale than full size.
Self Reflection
This module was pretty easy to understand as I took foundation in the natural and built environment before, so it's more like a more advanced version of what I learned previously. This module is more on the hands-on work and not the theory side. The lecturers explain the topics in a manner that is easy to understand. The assignments are really direct too, to train on our visual communication skills based on different mediums, line weights, etc. The classes are really fun instead of just staying in the studio, one of the most memorable memory was our lecturer introducing a class activity that forces us to go out and sketch a building and some natural elements. There were many workshops for digital media like AutoCad, Procreate, etc. These workshops may not be really useful for this semester but they will be really useful and prepare us for future applications. Project 3, is a collaboration with another module, AD1. It requires us to create an AR of our progress-related video using Blippar.
Overall Experience
This module is carried through hybrid mode classes, lectures are done fully online. The module coordinator has posted all important documents on TIMeS, Facebook, Telegram, and Teams so all announcements are received nicely. Personally, I really appreciate the effort in using all these platforms as different people prefer different platforms and notifications.

Our Module coordinator was Dr. Lia, she is a really fun and nice person. She made us do a quick sketch on Mr. Zaihari, it was really fun to look at all the different outcomes from our peers within such a short time. She also responds really quickly when there is an emergency. My tutor was Mr. Zaihari and he was really professional and often gives tips on how to improve our drawings and helped us to understand some practices that are done in real-life situations. Lastly, Mr. Adib was really patient and helpful during the Autocad workshop, I was really happy and blessed that I joined the workshop as I learned many things from it.
